PING G730 Irons
Maximizing distance was the primary objective in PING’s longest and most forgiving iron to date, generating typical distance gains of approximately five yards from the flexing, hyper 17-4 stainless steel face. It’s not just distance but distance with max height and increased forgiveness for shots that hit and hold the green.
By employing hyper 17-4 stainless steel through heat treating, PING engineers thinned the face and optimized its overall structure to increase flexing and help lower the CG, delivering higher-launching shots with ball-speed gains and approximately five more yards of distance.
The cavity-back design is supplemented with the proven PurFlex cavity badge that enhances feel and produces a more powerful sound. Multiple flex zones allow for more free bending to increase ball speed across the face for longer results.
G730 is available in 5 through 9 iron, pitching wedge, U-wedge, 50° and 56° wedges. The four wedges feature machined faces and grooves for added control and consistent results from all conditions.
Custom-engineered lofts help increase distance with an eye toward optimizing gaps. The option of power and retro spec lofts allows fitters to further optimize performance. Tungsten toe screw and shaft tip weights allow for swingweight fine-tuning.
The bigger head, more offset and wider sole in the investment-cast design increase the MOI in both axes, elevating forgiveness for improved stability and accuracy in this premium game-improvement design.

These irons are extremely long in terms of distance, while still feeling and looking pretty good for a game improvement style iron. I could not believe how far the ball was going for how smooth the irons felt. Previous generations of Ping game improvement irons never appealed to me mainly because of the looks. However these were not overly bulky looking or clunky feeling for how much forgiveness they provided. I felt I actually had some control over the ball flight, and could work the ball left or right. But there is no denying these irons are designed to go high and straight, which isn’t a bad thing for most golfers.
For a game improvement iron it was a pleasant surprise to see how small the profile of the iron looked at address. I instantly noticed crazy gains on my distance with the 7 iron. Normally with my gamer I’m lucky to get it 160 yards with a pure shot. However even my off-center strikes were going 15-20 yards farther, and much more accurate. If I hit my gamer anywhere near the heel it screams right and only goes about 120 yards. With these I hit some shots quite poorly that stayed relatively online, and went a similar distance to a pure shot. Overall I was super impressed with these irons, for someone that struggles with consistent ball striking these are the clubs for you!
